Director of Engineering

We are hiring Directors of Engineering to lead the next stage of a fast-growing fintech's engineering evolution. Rather than managing large teams through layers of middle management, each Director oversees several small engineering pods of typically one to three engineers. The job is enabling high-performing autonomous teams, not directing day-to-day activity.

The role

Lead multiple autonomous engineering pods and keep them aligned on shared objectives
Measure delivery and make sure work keeps moving
Remove unnecessary management overhead
Create an environment where engineers own problems end to end, across the stack
Maintain engineering standards and a positive engineering culture

What we are looking for

Strong technical background and experience leading engineering teams
Comfortable in highly autonomous, start-up style environments
Able to keep several teams aligned while staying hands-off
Technically credible — .NET, or React/Node with a backend lean; strong front-end backgrounds also considered
Hungry, ambitious and delivery-focused
